Oh yay, another example of misogyny in a women’s magazine!

I was procrastinating, so I started reading an issue of a Flemish women’s magazine from last week and I came across an article titled:

What women do wrong according to men

My first reaction was

But then I thought: “Hey, maybe it’s not so bad. There are plenty of articles about things that men do that annoy us. It’s probably written in jest. Maybe it won’t be that sexist…”

Turns out I was wrong. And I was seriously pissed off after reading it.

First off, it was written by a man who first claims that women are extraordinary creatures, that the world couldn’t function without us, and that men love us soooooo much, but then follows that with an article written in such a condescending tone (addressing the readers as “sweethearts” and “honeys”) that it made me want to punch someone in the fucking throat. Preferably him.

So, according to him, there are 7 ‘mistakes’ that we should correct, so that men will find us women more attractive, and make it so that they will never want to leave us. Because they’ll never say anything about it, but apparently they hate these things so much, that after months/years of this, it’s going to make them “jump out of a window in misery”.
